The first NASCAR race I ever watched was the 2001 Daytona 500. People familiar with NASCAR know the significance of this race. As any new fan, I started liking the guy I was most familiar with, and that was Jeff Gordon. It didn’t take me too long to find my own driver to follow. In October of 2002, an unheard of Missouri native raced to victory in only his second career start at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. His name - Jamie McMurray. Since that night, I’ve been a McMurray fan. After a disappointing career through 2009, Jamie has finally had the breakthrough his fans knew he was capable of. Winning NASCAR’s two biggest races, the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400, in the same season has put him in elite company. With more poles and top 5s than ever before, this season has put an exclamation point behind the statement “I’m a Jamie McMurray fan.”
I will be posting about NASCAR at various times so stay tuned! Until then, here are my favorite NASCAR websites.
